Jon Hallberg, M.D., marries medicine, the arts
MINNEAPOLIS, March 10, 2008—A full-length feature in the Sunday Star Tribune describes Jon Hallberg, M.D., as an indispensable part of many Twin Cities theatrical and musical productions.
Hallberg, an active member of the MMA and an adviser to Minnesota Medicine, is also the on-call physician for the Guthrie Theater, the Ordway Center, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra and the Hennepin Theatre Trust.
The feature is a portrait of a physician who takes delight in the arts, and who has upon occasion helped a show to go on. It described a last-minute intervention with saxophonist Kenny G., and an examination when actress/comedienne Bea Arthur fell onstage. He even steps in to consult when movie crews working here have medical emergencies.
In addition to appearing frequently as a commentator on MPR, Hallberg serves on the editorial board of Minnesota Medicine, and is a past recipient of the MMA's Physician Communicator of the Year Award.
The article also described Hallberg's vision of the Mill City Clinic, a center adjacent to the Guthrie that he hopes will be the most comprehensive performing arts clinic this side of New York City.
Hallberg co-founded and is medical director of the Center for Arts and Medicine at the University of Minnesota.
