MINNEAPOLIS, March 6, 2008—Why volunteer overseas? People volunteer for selfish and altruistic reasons – they want to learn, grow, have an adventure, and help others.

Healthcare Volunteers Overseas is working to make all these dreams come true.

HVO has announced it is partnering with Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA) to identify and solve health workforce problems.

This month, the GHWA will host the first Global Forum on Human Resources for Health in Kampala, Uganda. Originally expected to attract 500 participants, registration now stands at more than 1200.

The goal of this forum is to launch the Global Action Plan for Human Resources for Health – a plan that will serve as a framework for the many, many players addressing this resource shortage and will provide a mechanism for measuring progress in the coming years.
