EHR, P4P, ERx -- Three new factsheets available for download

MINNEAPOLIS, November 3, 2008—Health care is changing rapidly. As MMA staff meets with physicians around the state it is clear that physicians want information on the state’s legislative requirements and guidance on implementing these practice changes, including funding sources.

The MMA has developed three fact sheets to increase physician awareness and understanding of legislative requirements and other changes in their practice, available for free download. The topics are:

E-Prescribing in Minnesota  (and the 2011 mandate)
State law mandates that all prescribers, dispensers and providers use e-prescribing systems by January 2011. This factsheet describes what e-prescribing is, how works, what standards must be met in order to comply, and what resources are available to providers.

Implementing E-Health in Minnesota  (Electronic Health Records and the 2015 mandate)
Health care settings have until January 2015 to implement electronic health records (EMRs). This factsheet describes how providers can use grants and loan programs to get started, and lists resources clinics and others can turn to.

Pay For Performance in Minnesota  (P4P)
P4P programs have proliferated in Minnesota in recent years. This factsheet provides the basics about what P4P is, how it works, how to participate in it, and what the MMA's stand on P4P is.
