Clinics preview a new credentialing process
MINNEAPOLIS, November 3, 2008—Some Minnesota clinics are already starting to use a simpler, smarter process for credentialing in the introductory phase of the Minnesota Credentialing Collaborative (MCC), which was developed by the Minnesota Medical Association, the Minnesota Council of Health Plans and the Minnesota Hospital Association
The MCC process will be available for all Minnesota practitioners, clinics, hospitals and health plans to use in early 2009. A number of clinics began to try out the new system this fall.
The MCC provides an affordable online, easy-to-use way to prepare, save and send your credentialing application – one that is accepted by health plans, hospitals and other providers.
Here’s how it works. Once you or your clinic enter credentialing information into the secure website and attest to its accuracy, the system checks to make sure that all the required information has been included and sends it electronically to the health plans and/or hospitals that you have selected.
The new system speeds up the credentialing process by making sure that applications are much more complete and accurate the first time they’re submitted, significantly reducing the chances that they will be returned for more information or correction.
You’ll appreciate these benefits of the new system:
- It’s safe. All data is saved in a secure, private database.
- It eliminates errors. If you mistype a hospital name, it will double-check the spelling and correct it for you.
- It eliminates repetition. The data you enter into the program is stored so you can use it in future applications.
