MINNEAPOLIS, February 13, 2008—The MMA will no longer publish a print version of its Membership Directory. Replacing the print directory  is the online Find A Physician.

Find A Physician is part of the MMA's website, accessible from every page of the site. Its URL is www.mmaonline.net/cvweb/membersearch.shtml.

The MMA chose to go "all-online" with Find A Physician Finder for several reasons:

• It is searchable. You can find any physician even if all you know are a few letters of the name, the subspecialty, or the community a practice is located in.
• It is current. Information is continually updated to keep it fresh and useful — no year-long waits to fix a changed phone number.
• It is ubiquitous. It can be accessed from any networked computer or device.  A link to Find a Physician appears on every page of the MMA website.
• It is affordable. With printing costs going up, online directories save money for everyone.  Saves trees, too.
• It is hygienic. No coffee rings, no dog-ears, no infectious airborne particles.

"We appreciate that many members may have grown attached to our old print directories," said MMA Executive Director Robert K. Meiches, M.D. "But we're confident doctors will enjoy the advantages of the online version."

Members wishing to take Find A Physician out for a test drive should check their own information. Then they should try to locate a long-lost colleague. If you don't remember the spelling, supply a few letters.  JOHNS~ quickly shows all the Johnsons in the directory. Under city, if you type WORT~, Find A Physician lists all the physicians practicing in Worthington.
