Medicare: Physicians will be paid correctly despite late-December changes

MINNEAPOLIS, January 10, 2008—Physicians concerned they will not be paid at the right rembursement level in 2008 after the changes negotiated at the end of December should not worry, say the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

While some Medicare contractors may not have updated their websites yet to reflect the fee schedule updated at the end of December, CMS assures physicians that they will be paid correctly under the agreement. Minnesota's Part B carrier, Wisconsin's Physicians Service (WPS), has posted the updated fees on their website.

CMS has advised the American Medical Association that all contractors were instructed to process claims with January 2008 dates of service using the new fees starting Jan. 7.
