The Committee on Public Health and Preventive Medicine is responsible for addressing statewide issues related to public health.

The committee reviews and/or develops the content of MMA's educational programs related to public health and preventive medicine issues and involves physicians in the challenge of public health issues and in educational programs to develop awareness of healthful lifestyles.

Committee members seek to firmly establish the medical community as a leader, with other professionals, in the pursuit of public health goals and encourage Minnesota physicians to incorporate appropriate preventive health care practices in their clinical settings.

The committee meets two to four times per year as a whole and may create subcommittees as needed.
